Lithuania is also known as the country of gently rolling hills, forests, rivers, streams, and lakes. It has 816 rivers and more than 2,800 lakes, and forest covers 1/3 of the country, including many protected regions and national parks.
Lithuania is a “very high human development” country. Lithuania has been among the fastest growing economies in the European Union. Basketball is the country’s national sport, and their national team is ranked third worldwide. Several players have even joined the NBA.
